Cables for security, alarm and CCTV systems

The IMC range for security systems includes cables designed for connecting sensors, sirens, keypads, control panels, perimeter barriers, video surveillance equipment, and access control devices. Hybrid configurations allow the integration of power supply and signal transmission into a single cable, while shielded versions protect against electromagnetic interference. Conditions for coexistence with other cables must be evaluated based on insulation voltage ratings, installation methods, and applicable regulations, including CEI-UNEL 36762 where relevant.

Internal Configuration and Hybrid Structure

The range is primarily structured in a hybrid configuration (power supply + signalling) under a single sheath to optimize installation times on-site.

Power Conductors
Two conductors with enlarged cross-sections (typically 0.50 mm2 or 0.75 mm2) dedicated to carrying direct current for powering volumetric sensors (IR/Microwave), external sirens, and control keypads.

Signal Conductors
A variable number of reduced cross-section conductors (typically designated as "0.22", ranging from 2 to over 12 cores) for transmitting sensor status data, alarm loops, communication buses, and tamper-protection circuits.

Electromagnetic Protection and Shielding

To prevent adjacent electrical wiring or inductive loads from generating voltage spikes that could trigger false alarms at the control panel, the IMC security line utilizes an overall shielding system.

Aluminum/Polyester Tape Shield
Continuously spiral-wrapped over the cable core for 120% coverage, blocking background electrostatic and electromagnetic interference.

Continuity Conductor (Drain Wire)
Made of flexible copper and positioned in direct contact with the aluminum foil to allow quick and reliable grounding of the shield inside the control panel.

Sheath Types and Reaction to Fire

IMC security cables are available with various outer compounds based on the installation environment and regulatory requirements.

Standard Indoor Installation (Grade 4 / Coexistence)
Sheaths engineered with high-dielectric compounds to ensure elevated electrical insulation. This allows security cables to coexist in the same conduits and trunking with 230V/400V power cables (Category 1 systems) without requiring separating partitions.

LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) Compounds
Halogen-free variants recommended for public buildings, schools, and commercial facilities. In the event of a fire, they do not propagate flames, emit low-opacity smoke, and produce low amounts of toxic and corrosive gases.

Outdoor and Underground Versions
Equipped with outer sheaths resistant to UV radiation, moisture, and weathering—ideal for connecting outdoor perimeter barriers or security cameras.
